VIDEO: Bear Browses Polson Shops

In Polson on June 20th, 2022, you might have run into Yogi Bear while shopping. Unfortunately, it wasn’t Yogi, but a black bear did roam the streets, seemingly shopping the window sales. The bear strutted along the sidewalk as someone videoed the rare appearance of a bear roaming the small town streets. 

Black bears can live anywhere from 18-35 years old and often run up to 30 mph. It’s estimated that there are 15,000 or more black bears in Montana. These bears are very smart, especially with navigation and long-term memory. The black bear was most likely looking for food, possibly following Yogi Bear’s style, and thought a “pic-a-nic basket” was in order.
