Dogs are strange and wonderful critters, capable of acting so like humans sometimes that it can be uncanny. Like humans, they have a sense of play, and like humans that must mean that, on some level, they possess the concept of fun.
Sure, other animals play. Moose and elk will splash around in ponds, bears will wrestle each other as cubs, and mountain lions might bat around some prey before they finish it off. But a lot of those behaviors also serve a more pragmatic purpose, in that they double as training for important skills they will need to survive in the wild.
But Chloe here likes to roll down a hill. It has no behavioral analog in the wilderness, no value as a tool of survival. It's just sheer fun for fun's sake.
