Yellowstone Brokers Presents: Behind the Scenes of Montana Dreams

As a freelance photographer and cinematographer, Jimmy Michaels has traveled worldwide working on documentaries for The History Channel, Discovery, HGTV, and MeatEater. Then he met Jackie Wickens and Trecie Wheat Hughes of Yellowstone Brokers on the set of their HGTV show Mountain Mamas. 

Jimmy is the "behind the scenes" mastermind who produces Yellowstone Brokers' epic commercials, captivating drone footage and beautiful photography helping them deliver the legendary property services that has made Yellowstone Brokers famous. When he's not spending time with his wife Bethany and their two beautiful daughters Arabel (4) and Elyssa (2), he's likely to be out flying a drone around a Montana property, or searching for the ideal angle to complete a listing. He has a sought-after gift for framing the perfect image and delivering outstanding results.  

"Working with Yellowstone Brokers allows me to slow my travels down, be with my family, and appreciate my life in Montana even more," he says with a smile. "More camping, hiking, hunting, soaking, skiing, floating. Best of all, more Montana restaurants serving Montana food."

It's this appreciation for the stories of locally sourced food that inspired Jimmy to create and produce a pilot episode for a new TV show, Feast Montana. The subject of the series is the food grown and cultivated throughout Montana and the people that creatively work with it, following it from farm to table. The pilot episode features Streatery and Triple Dog Brewing, both of Havre. Additional episodes are in the works.  Feast Montana aims to get people off the beaten path in Montana to explore lesser-known food scenes, while keeping tabs on the more well-known areas. The food scene throughout Montana is, unsurprisingly, stellar.

When not working on Feast Montana, he finds the work for Yellowstone Brokers unexpectedly fulfilling: "Walking into a property for the first time is exciting to me. As someone who sees a lot of life through a lense, it's tough to travel throughout Montana and not want to always have a camera in hand. Working with Yellowstone Brokers allows me to see beautiful homes, areas, and towns while making new friends along the way."

Then there's the pleasure of watching Jackie and Trecie do the thing they do so well. Jimmy laughs and says, "Their excitement when a new listing pops up is infectious. When we show up to a house that we're preparing for photos and video, it's like catching up with old friends."
