VIDEO: Beavers Look Weird Walking On Their Hind Legs!

Beavers are sleek and beautiful creatures - they can scurry along on four legs like nobody's business, swim like an otter, and, though it doesn't seem possible, they can even stand up on two legs when they have to.  

But they have to have some enticement to do so -- like a nice tasty branch just high enough that they have to stretch to get at it. 

This video was filmed outside of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  As the videographer notes, "I was lucky enough to film this beaver taking a few steps while walking upright in the river. Walks a bit like a zombie; or perhaps like someone wanting a hug. It was very cute."

And you know what, it is pretty cute.  And we would give him a hug. But for those of you who aren't fans of rats and mice, take note: beavers are the largest living rodents in the world, although they're very close to the size of the capybara, a giant rodent (also pretty cute) from South America.  American beavers may experience a touch of size envy - they're very slightly smaller than their Eurasian cousins.
